  5 years since my last bottle. Was a bit skeptical before opening as 07 was a hot year in Tuscany and a lot of the wines are marked by the heat, but the Luce was showing superbly tonight.
  Slow ox'ed for about 30 min but this needs a proper short decant as the wine started with fairly prominent tannins which mellowed quickly with more air. Very aromatic and bright, wood spices and herbs joining the fruit that is fresh with a tilt into the red spectrum. Perfectly integrated acidity which is really beautifully done in this 50-50 Sangiovese and Merlot blend. Tannins are still providing a good backbone. Good length too. Unlike my last bottle 5 years ago, this bottle seemed to be good for another 10 years at least.
  Best red I have had for a while, and clearly underestimated by the main critics (WA / Galloni 91, WS / Sanderson 88).

  A bit tight on opening, but after about half an hour in the glass the aromas developed, the acidity softened and it evolved into a delicious wine. The Sangiovese and Merlot combination produced soft tannins, long dry finish with fun and interesting tertiary flavors.

  Big, bold, blackberry, anise, black plum and smoke aromas. Full body, prominent tannins, smoothing out, high alcohol and acidity, with nice long rich finish. Very nice wine!

  Drinking superbly. No decant needed, was singing from the start. Loads of fruit, anise, leather, long but not heavy. Could go on for a while longer but no need to wait

  First night a bit disjointed…never comes together over a couple of hours. Vacuum pumped 1/2 the bottle in fridge over night . Next day much fuller …integrated …dusty aged cherry and leather .
