  • Easily 96 points+, one of the better wines we have recently had. Drinking superbly well, highly recommend and at the average CT price an amazing QPR wine. 60% merlot / 40% sangiovese, a Mondavi / Frescobaldi joint venture and I am not sure whether this is still produced or not. Mature but still somewhat youthful not over the hill in any way and with proper cellaring this still has time although I doubt any further upside can be expected with further cellaring - my recommendation is drink not hold any remaining bottles. Several bottles recently acquired as part of a much larger cellar purchase. Opened for about 90 minutes prior to consumption and if decanted would recommend only a short splash decant. Floral and aromatic nose of dark stone fruit, lilac, garrigue and a hint of black pepper. Soft mouth feel, medium bodied, well integrated, complex and balanced with a pleasant lengthy aftertaste. Complex flavor profile of some oak still present up front, sweet dark cherry and plum and then much earthier stone, mushroom, coffee and tar notes with a smokier cigar box finish. Very impressed.

  • Cellartracker in the flesh with Stefan, Mats, Tomas and Basil (La Rochelle, Tokyo): blackcurrant, slight leather, sweet spice, cream, slight vanilla. In the mouth ripe blackcurrant, cassis, sweet spice. Juicy acidity, flour textured, persistent tannins. Ridiculously long but very young. I called this as left Bordeaux, probably Pauillac, 2009

  • Bottiglia stappata. Tappo perfetto. Colore rubino intenso.

  • tasted at dinner with M & B, an hour of air in the glass. Shows maturity yet has abundant fruit left and does not fatigue for a second. Drinks perfectly well.
