Beginning to show its age. A very likeable chardonnay half way between French chardonnay (eg Chablis) and the New World overoaked 'blousy' chardonnays of a few years ago. Beautifully made and well focused. Would have been 90'ish if I'd drunk it when I should have done.

Big Bottle Festival (Cellars Hohenort): A big, bold wine with plenty of oak, ripe stone fruits and broad shoulders. Almost opulent, the mid-palate is fleshy and intense, with a richness of creme fraiche richness, a lot of apricots and yellow peach, and a long finish. However, the oak is rather omnipresent with some phenolic edges and whilst there is a vibrant acid, it feels a little over the top lacking elegance.

Eye: yellow color. Nose: butterscotch, oaky, herbal, floral. Palate: crisp yet smooth, slightly buttery but good with food. Medium body and finish
