Medium garnet. Complex melded aromas of mocha, black cherries, with a base of soil and a ferrous tang. Full bodied spicy dark fruit on the palate, almost port-like, medium acids and tannins with a lovely chewy edge and an aromatic presence of black pepper and lilac at the back, very long dark fruit tannic finish. Extraordinary concentration illuminated by beams of light. 14.5% alcohol.

Slightly ageing garnet red. Nose: rich dry dark fruit. Medium full; tannins still present at edge, leather, dry black fruit (sloes, elderberries), salty liquorice. Good length Just hitting its stride

Aromas of spiced plums, flowers, sweet forest fungus, and dried meat. Nice concentration of sweet, dry, salty fruit on the palate with a lovely aromatic back note moving into a warm tannic finish. Perfect with this recipe for halibut and shiitake mushrooms. https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/8254-fish-with-shiitakes

This wine has outkicked its punt coverage and you should drink it right now. Consistently stellar wine from an average vintage, which in my book typically gives way to its sister parcel Terrasse du Diable around year 7-8-9 but still is dominating in Year 10. Greatly exceeded (high) expectations. Don’t sleep or wait, drink up.
