  Decanted for Italian Wine night in the cellar at Union League. Flinty mineral nose. Dense red wine. Delicious with beef tenderloin. This was an excellent wine but didn't hold a candle to some of the bigger more complex wines we enjoyed at dinner.

  Deep, dense, dark ruby core, bricking at rim. Big nose of earth, minerals, smoke, cherries, plums, roasted coffee. Highish alcohol (13.5% on label), moderate acidity, high level of ripe/velvety/powdery-textured tannins, very concentrated and rich. Full bodied, hearty, long, complex. Just like a great ten-year-old Taurasi should be. At peak.
