Slow ox’d for 5 hours. Really helped balance the fruit and earthy notes with the fairly assertive tannins. This wine was perfect with a seared pork chop and roasted potatoes.
Fantastic nose: Dark fruit, pronounced licorice note, mushroom, and balsamic on the nose.
Plum and dried strawberry on the palate, quickly followed by the licorice note that adds a intensity to the mid palate, but the back end of this wine could be better. Fruit falls off and it’s a touch hot combined with the oak spice make it slight harsh. Not noticeable with food though.
Very pleasurable elements in this wine and I would happily drink it again. Think this will continue to improve, but questions whether the fruit has enough intensity to outlast the tannins to reach the potential of a great taurasi.

At Poitin restaurant. Spectacular Aglianico. Complex, black fruit, exotic spices, balsamic, licorice, tobacco evolving during the evening. Very good length, with tannin, alcohol, and fruit in perfect harmony and linearity. Restraint and austere, pulls you back for another sip. Ample cellar potential

Give it a good hour to open up. Sour cherries, ripe red fruit, rhubarb, well integrated oak. Really great stuff.

Some reductive notes in the beginning. Balsamic aromas dominated by wood and liquorice. Not sure if I liked this.
