Ian's Blind @ Medlar (The Medlar, London): Blind. First sniff and I could almost be in Cali Pinot country, but a second sniff suggests northern Rhone and Cote Rotie. Dense spicy red fruit with a touch of soy meatiness and bacon rind. We must go all round the producers bar CR. Late 80's? Again, dries a little on the finish with air, but lovely. ****

Dinner @ C&J's / Dad.: From a really well stored case. deep red color, hardly any bricking. Great nose of bacon, beef blood etc. Finish on a previous bottle was a little short and didnt quite match the nose but this one was full and rich. Stood up to a very good bottle of 85 LLC

Steven Plotnicki in Queens; 12/6/2005-12/7/2005 (the counts manor): one of the best rhones i have ever had - although this is the only one from '80s as well. tannins completly resolved. The wine kept changing - from ashtray, to animal, to flowers and meat on the nose... trully magnificent. medium body, still tons of ripe fruit and excellent acidity.

La Tablee: The Glory of Cote Rotie (Clusel Roch) (Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria): This is another beautiful wine. Still a bit youngish and perhaps one of the least ready of the group. Just a bit of game, a bit of black fruits, a bit of minerals. While not really ready it is still drinking well.
