Rheingau Gourmet Festival "Versteigerungsspitzen & Schatzkammerweine", Kloster Eberbach, early Mar 2013: yellow color; smoke, iodine and apple; nice interplay of mild acid with the residual sugar.

Tasting and dinner with old wines from Kloster Eberbach (Kloster Eberbach, Rheingau): Amber colour (slightly darker than the Baiken wine). The nose is noticeably smoky with caramel notes, dried apricot, some red berries, and spice. alate with good concentration, "Beerenauslese sweetness", caramel, pronounced spiciness, dried apricots, good acidity and a long aftertaste. Quite a lot of power and pure aromas. 92 p Of the 1973 Eiswein flight of four wines, this wine has a more powerful and "darker" nose than the Baiken wine, comes across as older in the nose, and does not have quite the same elegance on the palate, but it is a very impressive wine.

Rieslingfeier - BYOB Main Event (Rouge Tomate, NYC): Brought by Craig G. Dark nose - burly, molasses and rich. On a sad note, which also provided for one of the most amusing stories of the night, my Dad chugged this down before I finished my note because he needed to clear a glass for my 01 JJ Chistoffel Urziger Wurzgarten Auslese * ... :(

Dinner by Sebastian Lühr * with "Versteigerungsspitzen & Schatzkammerweine" (Rheingau Gourmet & Wein Festival, Kloster Eberbach): Old gold, quite orangey; dried apricot and a hint of honey on the nose; on the palate very bright and lively, nice weight of fruit but lighter than both the Baiken and the Steinberger, very charming; good length.
