  • Comes in a nice moderate violet shade, nose shows sweet black cherry and plum, sugary. Drinking and this is not like other Rioja’s I’ve had, very fruity, oak and barrel notes don't show up until the finish I’m used to them being very dry on the finish, this is not that. Medium bodied, fruity, leading to a sour cherry end. Paired very well with grilled chicken. Definite in its prime. One for the decanter, nice on day 1, much better on day 2.

  • Sensational Gran Reserva, possibly a bit too young still and likely to get much more complex in time however delicious fruit, oak and tertiary aromas.

  • Currant, vanilla, and tapenade-on-toast nose. Flavourful palate with good balance and structure; solidly built with good minerality and length.

  • Another great "value" from Spain where the price is much lower than the quality of the wine. The wine spent 27 months in French oak barrels and 36 months in bottles. This means that the wine has been under control for 5 years and 3 months. All this for less than €22. And what do we get for this price? First of all – mocha is in the smell, mocha is in the taste. Unbelievable! But wait, there's more. Aromas of plum and cedar, cherries and earth, black chocolate and minerals, tobacco and berries.
    Do you see this contrast?
Taste - black fruits are everywhere, plus of course mocca. Too many sweets? Could be, but we also have herbs and spicy spices (unfortunately too soft). Acidity? Could be more prominent, but catchy tannins are perfect.
Overall, the wine is on the sweet side of dry red wines. With a great exception, namely a rather long finish, where suddenly red fruits like red cherry and pomegranate woke up with unexpected surprises - there is orange and strawberry. Incredible!
I recommend it for everyone with every taste profile.

  • This is good. And I mean good. That Rioja Gran Reserva depth is developing, I can so tell. But this already now immensely enjoyable. A pleothora of things here already. Must buy 12 for the cellar.
