No disappointments with this 92 Ramonet Montrachet; complex and detailed nose, full of mint, bergamot, saline, white pepper, lily accents to the pure, cool, deep chardonnay fruit. Touch of honey on the palate, terrific substance and length. Le Montrachet is just so amazing, melding the fat and power of Batard with the chiseled, lithe purity of Chevalier.

Montrachet: Ramonet v. Drouhin (Highlights): Such a fresh an clean nose. Elegant and pure. Honeydew melon, honeysuckle, dried coconut, dried green seaweed. This is really on and really beautiful. Picks up fresh kicks of lemon citrus with a swirl. Palate is sensational as well with huge flavour and perfect balance. Making a case for wine of the night. Didn't even think about cork taint until after dinner when Burgundy Al mentioned it...

Montrachet Dinner: 10 Vintages of Ramonet and Marquis de Laguiche, 1983-2002 (Oceana - New York NY): Subdued aromas were confusing, but a powerful and expressive palate of apple, quince, nutmeg and wintergreen. Massive concentration. Perhaps ever-so-slightly corked, masking the nose, then shortening the finish with more time in glass. 89 point nose, 97 point palate to start, then slowly declining. But this was still in my "top 5" of the evening with such great flavors and concentration!

Brilliant bottle. Complex nose with an initial pungency. Layered and rich, but not fat, on the palate. Even better after an hour of air time.

Showing the beginnings of oxidation but otherwise off as well, albeit not corked
