(At Birotecca - Baltimore) A true QPR delight. Light bodied and fresh with classic Piedmont notes of rose and earth. Packs very good depth of flavor. Drinks well now and should hold well on balance for the next 5 to 7 years. Winner. (88)

Colour pleasingly transparent and looks older than its year. I'm not very familiar with Barolo and related wines though I've had some very good ones that were well matured. Nose is lovely: the next best thing to Burgundy. Dry and savoury, surprisingly complex for its age. Palate has quite a bit of firm tannin, but in addition it's a real mouthful. The mouthfeel is very even and there is real texture. My feeling is that it needs quite a few years. We will see. Don't take any notice of my mark: I really don't know how to mark this wine.

Medium ruby color with a touch of brick towards the rim. A little muted first, bit openend up beautifully with some air. Nice nose of red cherries, sweet strawberries but also some spices and a touch of graphite. On the palate there is beautiful red fruit again with some spices and some graphite/tar notes as well as some menthol. Medium bodied with medium+ tannin and medium acidity. Great length. This is a very beautiful Nebbiolo from this top-producer with an almost Barolo-like structure, but at a fraction of the price.

(Massolino Langhe Nebbiolo) Medium red violet color with pale meniscus; aromatic, tart red berry, tart cherry, floral nose; tight, silky textured, very tart cherry, soapstone, mineral palate with near medium acidity; medium-plus finish (14% alcohol)
