Terroir-istes International - Italy, Northern Whites (Overgaauw Wine Estate): (Tasted Blind): A light canary yellow colour that exudes oak spices, blackcurrant leaf and a hint of orange reminiscent of Semillon. Toasty notes are prevalent, with the oak influence being more prominent than the fruit. The palate starts better with some beeswax, grapefruit and lemony notes, whilst a mineral and pithiness give texture to the mid-palate. It feels quite like a Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon blend adorned with toasty oak, crushed nuts, and some melted butter, all detracting somewhat from the fruit expression. It has a reasonable length, good linearity and excellent intensity, but it is a left-of-centre chardonnay that I was on the fence about.

Shane’s 5th Annual Game Dinner - Themed “Cinghiale e Piemonte” (Shane and Dina’s Home in NJ/USA): Fermented in steel then barrel aged on the lees with full malo-lactic fermentation. Decanted about an hour before serving. Light lemon yellow color with white flowers and lemon on the nose. Palate is crisp with lemon, cream and minerals and a moderately long finish that is slightly saline. Nice wine that I thought was better drunk alone than with the scallop dish which I thought it cut through rather than complement.

VEO Amsterdam, Barolo (Restaurant Domenica Amsterdam): Still fairly closed. Full yellow fruits and some pecan nut notes on the nose. Similar on the palate with attractive finish. Needs another 5 years, 90 points for now.
