Spanish fun day two (N&J's place, Canberra): From Coravin. Plenty of savoury spice and peppery notes and a little bacon fat, baked black fruits, liquorice, charcuterie, leather, saline. Juicy, herbaceous, bacon fat over baked red and black fruits, tannins are grapy and woody, persistent, quite finely textured though drying, fruit drops a little too quickly leaving bacon fat and a sense of loss. Kind of nice.

Angelica Wine Club - Mediterranean (Lot One, Potts Point): Earthy, stalky; jubey black fruits, savoury, a little baked. On the palate a little green capsicum and white pepper, blackberry, spice, tannins are talc textured. Fresh and rather nice.

100% Listán Negro, from the Canary Islands. Neutral oak.
Prominent sulfur notes on opening, Ribena aromas. Medium bodied, slick texture on entry, bitter cherry and iron flavours, mid-bodied and ripe tannins with some acidity dancing across the midpalate. Decidedly savoury.

Quite dark fruited with a nicely peppery edge and plenty of zippy crunch. Works well served at cellar temperature with bbq ribeye. ***
