  • I wrote a tasting note 3 years ago and this one is quite similar. Beautiful aromatics. There is bright cherry fruit and roses on the palate. The tannins have smoothed out over the past 3 years and this is a wonderfully enjoyable wine that still has plenty in the tank. However, this is my last bottle.

  • Part 1 Produttori del Barbaresco 2009 horizontal. Aired for a few hours in bottle prior. Drank in Conterno Sensory.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, mdium intensity, with aromas of sweet VA nail polish (blew off on day 2), dark red cherries, earth. Lots of dark tar on day 2. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), structured high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet dark red cherries, dark red plums, purple fruits, savoury earth. Long big grippy tannic finish.
Very good quality. Still very much in primary stage. More years of age definitely needed for this.

  • Open, round and radiant, but also a little less dense and rich than some of the others. It‘s pretty round and lacks the thrill of the best wines, but still very nice, with medium-high tannin, some medium+ body and medium+ acidity. Good length. A very good wine in a line-up of wines of which some were even better.

  • clean pale ruby.
medium/medium+ intensity youthful aromatics of red fruit, leather, cherry blossoms, and violets.

Light on its feet, elegant, palette high tannins, high acidity, medium + alcohol, fresh cranberry fruit on the palette. Palette is developing/developed (as opposed to the more youthful nose)

this wine is in a lovely spot. Itll last another 5-8yrs easily, but no sin to drink up now.

I think I better understand the nebbiolo to pinot noir comparisons. Regardless this barbaresco hearkens to its past.
The queen of wines; and the wine of queens.

  • Not much of anything at first (beyond asphalt/tar), but with 3-4 hours of air it opened up considerably to yield a nose of asphalt, underbrush, and leather complicated by emerging red and black fruit flavors alongside subtle hints of rose. It really shines on the palate though, with an expansive and notably mouth coating package of the same flavors. It's big in the mouth, though mid-weight in concentration. Based on this bottle, give it plenty of air in order to enjoy (at least 3 hours).
