A cool climate shiraz with a touch of viogner. Spice, red earth and white pepper dominated the bouquet. Body was fairly linear where dark fruits screamed loudly behind smooth acidity. Not entirely convincing or satisfying but pleasant enough.
Drink now to 5+ years.

{diam, 13.5%} Fairly youthful-looking garnet. Deep ripe nose of blackberry fruit, malt, dark spices. Maybe a hint of black pepper too. Warm palate, medium/full-bodied, with pronounced acidity, spiky (added?), fine gritty tannins, but good even presence along the palate. The cool climate origin becomes more apparent on the finish, where the pepper turns white and the spice component comes to the fore. There’s still enough tannins and depth of youthful fruit to suggest this has another decade ahead of it at least. Certainly seems to improve with air. One to keep I think.

great structure laden with dark fruit but still retaining the mouthfeel of a medium bodied wine, clearly cool climate shiraz. A little savoury and some earthy and herby flavours, with some tasty spice on the end of each sip. Im guessing the pepper has settled down a bit from previous notes, its there but taking a backseat. good stuff and will do my best to hold the other bottle for atleast 5 - 10 years more, hopefully!
