  • Appearance: medium garnet, a bit hazy.
Nose: pronounced intensity; aromas of red cherry, cranberry, leather, black tea, black olive, black pepper, hawthorn, sweet tobacco, pomegranate, fresh red roses, cloves, savoury/saline, perfume, Mediterranean herbs. It’s developing.
Palate: dry, high acidity, medium plus tannins very smooth, medium alcohol, medium plus body, pronounced flavour intensity, savoury, hawthorn, earthy and black olive come through. The finish is medium plus to long.
Overall, it’s a very good wine (very close to outstanding). Drinking perfectly now, surely will last for another 3-5 years.
Wow! I tried this wine in the cellar door a few months back and knew it was great. But this bottle feels even better. So complex on the nose. All primary, secondary and tertiary notes are singing in great harmony. Very perfumed (blend of Viognier). Elegant yet concentrated, mesmerising perfume, lingering finish. Everything is just so balanced.

  • Wine-Ark boys on tour 2017 - Day 2 (Beechworth and King Valley): Sweet blackberry fruit, black pepper and spice. Again, controlled new oak. On the palate, though, it's a little sour and sharp and the tannins are a little gritty and green. Wayne says metallic and I have to agree…tastes like bad vintage St Joseph.
