Primary ruby color with hints of garnet seeping in. Smoke-inflected, spicy, cinnamon, cardamon, cherry, and strawberry aromas. Initially reminiscent of sweet cherry candy, then assumes a more brooding and mineral-toned, regal stature laced with violets and subtle tobacco. A melange of spicy red fruits and black tea on the palate that conjure up a Yuletime extravaganza (from magnum).

Pnp, bright red with stemmy nose akin to Dugat Py, but here we have more red fruits aroma. More oak spice on palate, but there is ample concentrated juice as well as a hint of floral element that made this wine elegant. Ever so slight dusty tannin with sweetness and acidity which are finely balanced. In the league of power without weight and a medium finish.

Joseph Drouhin Dinner (Medlar (London)): Obviously stem influence and with some green notes on the nose. It is not herbaceous but borderline there. The palate is astringent, bit tight. For me the weakest wine in this 2011 line-up. Also didn't seem to get better with air. A mild disappointment.

Here comes the real stuff! Reserved in the beginning, but top breed spotted right away. You can’t miss with it. It has pretty much of everything you expect from GC: depth of aromas, complexity, good concentration of fruits, multilayer and finesse. ‘11 is odd year, it drinks OK already, but this one will evolve with years. Drouhin sources fruits with low yield vines: 36hl/ha. Delicate work with oak (20% new 14-18mo). Delicious wine with long lasting finish.
