  • Last two (2) bottles from a case; consumed and monitored over the last 2 to 7 years but not commented on previously. Thanks to a freezer half a roast partridge and half a roast quail per guest; roast (cool pressed rape seed oil) medley of vegetables including sweet potatoes, parsnips, aubergine, red capya and yellow cup peppers, Spanish onions, some garlic, new season courgettes and spring greens/chard. Decanted 6 plus hours before first serving; cork and nose encouraging. Some slight improvement and hour or so after first pouring. Alas just about an adequate balance of fruit and alcohol; dead on the palate with a slightly bitter/unpleasant after taste. To me the possibility of further cellaring is preposterous. I'm a Grivot fan; it wasn't a great year and any left should be used PDQ.

  • Deep red colour but with a hint of a rim.
Slow to open. After 3 hours rich red fruits and sweet spice.
Slightly hot/pepper feel, perhaps the alcohol.
    Drying tannins suggest still young.
Will improve and has the fruit to wait.

  • Near identical colour to the Pruliers — mid ruby and quite dense. Quite a spicy, fragrant nose, less austere than the Pruliers. Dark red fruit, spice, and a floral, wet clay mineral nose. Quite focused and precise. Densely silky on the attack, more precise and focused than the Pruliers, purer too. Overnight this holds nicely, decent texture and flavour profile, but perhaps a fraction restrained and slightly herbal, rather than voluptuous and sexy. Again, there is a slight sense of the vintage character, but significantly less so than the Pruliers. ****

  • No secondary notes so I guess it’s still young. Deep austerity. Pleasant with a steak in mushroom red wine sauce, English peas and sweet potato.

  • Dark red with a little brick, nose of tobacco and spice. Medium full body, decent acidity and still some healthy tannins, with a medium finish. A touch of heat from the alcohol, this was less balanced than I expected and not the most complex. Decent wine, but perhaps not the best CV plot...no wonder this is often cheaper than Grivot's better 1er crus
