Double birthday dinner with friends (Hawthorn): Lovely stuff - big, muscular with real grip to it, and a hint of spice. Some marzipan and cherry stone on the finish. I think this is better than the last bottle I had, and possibly the best I've tasted of these.

Weekend of 11-13 June 2021; 6/11/2021-6/13/2021: Third and final bottle of these. This is in a good place - ready to drink, very enjoyable. Not quite as good as the most recent bottle I tasted (from memory - at a 2019 dinner, brought by Antoine S) - but I put that down to bottle variation rather than this wine getting over the hill.

Clos Vougeot - Northside / Chambolle-side Tasting (Chicago): Plenty or ripe black cherry in the aroma and palate. Structure is significant, drying and not in harmony with the fruit. This seems disjointed and too ripe to ever come together. Drink up.

Rustic black fruits with good weight and ripeness. A lean acid and tannin driven backbone drive the awkward texture. Overall disjointed and chewy with black fruits. Just ok.

Clos Vougeot (Chambolle/ Northside) Tasting (Chicagoland IL): In vertical. Ripe start with good depth, also very Vosne-styled with red cherry and baking spice. Palate is more foursquare, somewhat awkward and lacking the textural dexterity the nose implied. Finishes slightly bitter. Good enough, but slightly disappointing.
