Cocur with Duncan’s note including seepage under foil which was of no consequence. Very nice wine with good finish and aftertaste. Do not drink enough white Burgundy to make comparative judgement.

Friday night wines at Thierry's place (Wellington, New Zealand): Colour light lemon. A bouquet of white flowers, lemon, lime, almonds and a little spice. The bouquet shows a little toasty oak. On palate, the fruit weight and power of this wine has tasters locating it in Puligny. A luscious wine with viscosity, but not at all oxidised and with sufficient acids. Flavours tending peach, pear, spicy vanilla, with some attractive minerality. Very primary, tasters pick the vintage as 2009. Real purity, with excellent line, length and focus. No stereotypical 2003 white Burgundy.

The cork worried me: some seepage under the foil, the top end of the cork seeming slightly loose in the neck. The bottom end of the cork was tight, however, and the wine seemingly unaffected. Straw-coloured. The initial impact is fresh, appley - no sign of the hot vintage. Full on the palate, indefinable but complex flavours; a touch of butteriness, a touch of vanilla. Quite dry and very long finish. 13.5% Really fairly majestic.

Very light colour. On the palate primary though quite thick and rich though not overly broad, great texture. Serious wine of structure rather than linear focus and cut. Great with shallow fried Terikihi and garden veges.

WCC Chassagne and Puligny Premier Crus Blind (Yono's Restaurant, Albany, NY): Pretty simple with a touch of steminess. Apparently others like that better than I do. Tied for Group #3 WOTN.
