  • A year on from the last bottle and it is still excellent. The best Fonreaud I have tasted.
No hurry to drink the rest IMO.

  • I can only echo my previous note in almost all respects. Great nose on opening. Perhaps a little more damson on the palate early and the fruit, as it opened, had a good balance of plum, damson, but still mainly dark cherry. The Merlot adds a lot to the Cab Sauv. and Petit Verdot but the balance and character is still superb.
Still a very deep, youthful colour with no sign of ageing. Excellent claret with plenty of life, yet. 90+

  • Good colour and restrained fruit on the nose at first but it opened and showed sweet spice later. Rich fruit on the palate - cherries and dark fruits with spice, a little cedar and some eucalyptus (as detected by a previous taster). Soft and very attractive from the off - all the body and richness expected from a hot year but with more finesse than expected from such conditions.
2-3 h after decanting, great nose. Red cherries incl. maraschino cherries were even more pronounced on the palate with cherry stones. A little leathery tannin on the end palate softened in the glass as the fruit grew sweeter. There was enough tannin to handle rare roast beef very well indeed. After 4h, it was excellent. I have raised my initial score.
Bought in a French supermarket soon after release for a few Euros. I have a couple more and I think they are at their peak. Very nice wine; full of character. Listrac usually offers great value. Good to know it can last so well.

  • Drinking well above the $15 I paid for it at Bev Mo in 2006, this is drinking very well at the moment. Lovely aromas and flavors of currant, with eucalyptus notes in the mid palate and a licorice and currant finish. Wonderful with a traditional French lentil salad with walnuts. If you have some pop the cork. It's really a super, drinkable, food-friendly claret.

  • A bit lighter than some other clarets but soft and smooth. Drinking nicely now.
