Color: ruby core and light crimson around the edges.
Nose: dry aged beef, leather, hint of sweeet tobacco, dried cranberry, floral.
Palate: medium acid, brine, savory grilled red fruit, jammy luxury laden with silk.
Stunning example of the 2012 vintage. I lean towards the cooler willamette valley vintages and eschew the 2012s but I’m kicking myself hard for not buying more. This still has room to evolve but is drinking well now.

This was a fascinating Pinot, totally unique in my experience.
Dark ruby, but still transparent.
Nose full of mixed wild berries, just picked off the bush with a bit of hard to describe funk.
Mouthfeel has a bit of glycerin, but no heaviness. Flavor is a fascinating combination of mixed fruit and funk. It has a little bit of northern Rhône white pepper, but also toast (not oak) and mushroom. Really unusual. Finish was long.
These funky characteristics mean I wouldn’t have guessed it was Pinot served blind. Sometimes I object to that, but not in this case. It's lack of typicity makes this wine interesting and special, as opposed to Frankenstein Pinots that may as well be Zin.
Brettier and more reduced than my last btl. Took almost 4 hrs to blow off some, but the underlying material is all there...not the same experience as my last btl, which was absolutely mindblowing. Behind the reduction, good sweet strawberry and cranberry. Great acidity, loads of red fruit, and soft tannin on the slightly spicy finish.

Champagne & Cameron (Etto - DC): Great aromatics of roses, rhubarb, herbs and spices, bright red cherry and currant fruit galore. Hard and tight on the palate, this is one to age, but the acidity is brisk and the balance is on point. Red cherries, raspberry, strawberry, laced with leather, green herbs, spices, menthol, charcoal smoke. Delicious and intriguing now but will do even more exceptional stuff over the next five years.

Barnyard, funk and mushrooms on the bouquet. Nice mouthfeel and extraction. Tannins and some acid to carry it through.
