  • Clear, bright ruby with some purple hues. Medium (+) to deep in intensity, with some pink on the rim. Medium (+) viscosity and the legs are quite stained. The nose is clean, youthful and medium (+) in intensity, with red fruit, black fruit, organic earth and some oak induced baking spices. The palate is dry, but with some sweet fruit. The acidity is medium (+), the alcohol is medium to medium (+) at 13.5%, but the tannins are still medium (+) to pronounced. The palate is consistent with the nose, with medium (+) body and medium (+) flavor intensity. The medium (+) to long finish ends on a classic savory and bitter note. Overall, this is a food wine rather than a cocktail wine. It drank much better after a couple of days and should be even better in five years. It is simply too young right now to be consumed without an extended decant. Aglianico is truly the Barolo of the South and needs years of aging for the fruit tannins and oak tannins to become integrated and more balanced with the rest of the wine.

  • Nose - sour plum, herbs
Mouth - full bodied, exquisitely juicy, very fresh lively plum and raspberry fruit, with extensive suave tannins and a sour cherry finish. In great balance. Slightly rustic but lip smacking good.
