(13.5%) 100% Aglianico -Dense, dark, smoky fruit with chalky, dry (and finely grained) tannins before the fruit once again emerges on a dusty finish. Well balanced with a very nice structure that seems ready made for another 10 years of aging. At $13 a bottle I am tempted and surprised of the quality given the amount made (70,000 cases made)...
Wine Geek Notes: Grown from vines in volcanic soil at 1,500ft, imported by Quintessential Wines, aged in 80% Slovenian oak and 20% French barriques, sediment on finish

Weekly tasting group #045; A mixed set of red wines. (@ DJ): Blood red with a garnet rim. Interesting bouquet with some menthol and rose hips; overall tempting. On the palate some minerals and a metal start. Then dark and red cherries, some chocolate, refined acidity and round tannin. A well composed wine.
