  Had this with a bunch of wine friends and we were all surprised at how young it still tasted. The best bottle of the 3 that I bought at auction.

  I really enjoyed this. A great balance of fruit and acidity. It went very well with a roasted (and stuffed w/ mushrooms) chicken, and Foie Gras.

  Similar, but not quite as good, as the 1993 Magnum, of the same wine that I had a few days earlier.

  Cork in good shape. Decanted for an hour before dinner. Hardly any sediment. Color was a darkish ruby red and the nose featured red-fruits and some earthiness. Oak tannin now mostly resolved and the wine presents lighter than expected--tart fruits and a lingering finish. Good to go.

  The Doctor Is In (Eleven Madison Park): A Burgundy for Bordeaux lovers, with its muscular tannin, dark black-and-blue fruit, and Bordeaux-like minerality of iron and rust. A complex, sophisticated scent and easy to drink despite its almost brutish soul.
