Enjoyed with Xavier94 and I defer to his note. While this was huge and fairly extracted, it had none of the roasted and dried/out notes afflicting many ‘90 red burgundies.

Big wine with dark, damp soil, soy sauce, briar patch, cardamom, sweet cedar scents, dried roses and various cabinet spices (indeed, very middle aged). The wine is ample but exuberantly full of Vosne spice and charm among the somber, dark fruit. The wine retains good poise in the mouth, even in this ripe vintage. Some beet root/soil aromas keep the fruit from being too confected or heavy-handed. More extracted and “full-throttle” for sure this still shows Echezeaux character in my opinion. IMpressive stuff and obviously going nowhere in a hurry. 94+

Deep blood/ruby, barely any paler rim. Mellow slightly smoky nose, shows a deep damsony fruit along with quite a bit of oak and a slightly disturbing edge reminiscent of swimming pool. Firm and fruity in the mouth and really quite sharp edged. Complete but not harmonious. Top ***

Dried dark fruit, earth, iron and blood. While it is still fresh, the fruit is on the edge of fading. Over the peak.

World Wine Symposium 2013 - Kevin and Kelly's excellent adventure; 11/6/2013-11/14/2013 (Villa D’este, Lake Como): A typical ripe fruit expression of the 90. Slightly stewed fruits, dark fruit expression and a hint of Asian spices. Excellent concentration and sweet fruits. IMO, the wine needs additional cellaring to come together, need a bit more tertiary notes to hopefully compensate the ripe fruit expression.
