Opera Wine 2017 - 100 Great Producers (Verona, Italy): I've had this a few times now, including during a visit to the cantina. It's not my preferred rendition of Nero d'Avola as it's far too modern, and for me, lacks varietal character or sense of place. I've tried many wines from this house over the years, and each has pretty much turned out the same way - they could deliver more, by doing less. It's not a bad wine, in fact, most would describe it as delicious, I just find it boring at this stage of my life.
Sicilian Wines: Sewer and dried violets with a wild expressive acidity. Lots of liquorice, asphalt and even spearmint. Perhaps a bit too modern but overall a decent wine.
