Opened and served right away. Darker fruits and earthy aromas with a perfectly mature and mellow profile on the palate with enough backbone left to keep it from being soft. Decent acidity and powdery tannins with nice length. I've had several bottles of this over the years and this was the best bottle yet. Paired very well a lamb roast. I'm not a big Aussie wine fan but when it's like this it's pretty good once in a while. Excellent.

Medium purple/red on the core rim moving to dark brown/purple rim. Sweeter nose with ripe blackberries, blue berry pie and hints of menthol. Soft and round in the mouth with chewy tannins and medium acidity. A fairly restrained Aussie red that’s drinking very well now and should hold for 2-3 years. Very good.

Spectacularly good wine. Nose resonant and powerful - cassis, plums, mint - very very deep, intense and rich. Palate even more powerful - cassis and plums and mint again but tantalising layers of other fruit - blueberry, loganberry, mulberry, wild strawberry - complex layers which keep changing. tantalising mint, herbs, eucalyptus. Beautiful balance. Ripe soft tannin. Very long aftertaste with the mint staying there until the end. The texture was silky and luxurious. The weight full but not unduly heavy. This is just a marvellous wine. I opened it a few days ago and did my usual trick of taking 2 glasses and decanting the reminder into a half litre bottle to prevent oxidation. next day it goes down to a half bottle. Then next day into a quarter litre bottle. I'm drinking it with my lunch today a few days after it was first opened and it remains apparently unaffected and every bit as fresh as when it was opened.
This is one of the best wines I've had over the Christmas period and possibly for many months.
Bravo.

The bouquet was rather weedy with some eucalypt. Nothing special on the palate, but still a good wine. Should have drunk it before the Heathcote Estate Shiraz.
