Eðalklúbbur, vínsmakk #3 vor 2021 (Bólstaðarhlíð 29): Þegar var þefað af glasinu þá voru sólber alveg rosalega áberandi. Vínið ilmaði bókstaflega eins og ribena safi. Þegar það var smakkað þá kom ekki á óvart að sólber voru áberandi. Síðan reyndist það mjög brennt. Frekar óspennandi. Vantar sýru, vantar karakter. Bakað vín. Kom þó í ljós að það skánaði aðeins í glasinu. Ekki góð frammistaða samt fyrir vín sem kostar 5.500 kr.

"2019" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/7/2018-10/12/2018 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {screwcap, 14.5%} Inky-dark purple colour. Rich, slightly developing nose of boysenberries and raspberries. The medium/full-bodied palate has melded fruit flavours reflecting its multi-grape identity as far as character goes; yet too fruity and even generic to ever be mistaken for a Bordeaux, for example. Medium chalky tannins are still soft and pliable; there’s plenty of presence on the middle of the tongue, and a medium finish, but it has a bland soulless quality somehow. Needs time? Air? Hmmm.

Peter Lehman Masterclass (Bel & Brio, Barangaroo): Confected blackcurrant, pyrazine, slight smoked bacon, a little muted, black tea. Again tightly tannic but now quite drying over cedar, cream, broad, black fruit, well made, balanced but not for me.

For whatever reason I thought Mentor was shiraz but man first sip this is unmistakeable cab sav. Very well done and very accessable. Completely true to the modern cab sav style, with everything in check.
