Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • From a purely analytical point of view, this is an incredibly complex wine - caramel (possibly slightly salted), roasted figs, baking cupboard, raisins, preserved fruits etc etc. The sweetness is off-the-charts (it took us three sittings for two of us to finish a 500ml bottle).

But, and it is a big but for me, is this worth the 80 or so euros at the cellar door? I understand the cost implications of using such shriveled grapes, and the labour involved, but for me it just lacks a certain je-ne-sais-quoi to truly make that feel like a price worth paying. I haven't rated it on that basis, as it would lose points for QPR for me if I did.
