This dessert wine is still drinking in great form. Marmalade comes to mind. Paired perfectly with dessert vanilla bean panna cotta with strawberry, honeycomb, and candied fennel.

N: marmelade d'orange, pâte d'abricot, massepain. Très intense. B: puissante mais pas trop sucrée (l'énorme quantité initiale de sucre est bien fondue). On retrouve en bouche les saveurs du nez, en écho. On aimerait plus d'acidité.

Blind Wine Industry Guys (Eric's House, Hong Kong): Served blind. Deep golden brown caramel colour. Nose is new rubber inner tube and the chalk powder. Palate is lovely multi levels of caramel smoke and an old beach driftwood fire. Absolutely lovely. 90 easy. Thanks, Daniel!

Fabulous All Sauternes Tasting Dinner (Brad's Place, St. Paul, MN): Dark amber color. From 500ml. Drank 1 glass over 90 minutes. The nose explodes with ripe apricots, prune, apple, honey and spices. The palate is dense, tart, not as sweet now, apricot, prune, raisin, orange peel, baked apple, drizzled honey, medium-full body, medium plus finish. Fabulous stuff.

Dessert Wine Extravaganza: Initially it presented a very unusual nose, with floral scents accompanied by an off, chemical aroma. The total package was eerily reminiscent of a K Mart garden center. The texture was also much less viscous than most of the other wines, and merely adequate acidity made it slighty flabby. After a couple of hours of breathing, it improved substantially, however, taking on weight and complexity. A very good wine, but I find it short of great because of the slight flabbiness and the unusual aromas.
