A very young wine but wow the aromatics on this wine was out of this world...perfume of rose, red fruits, cherry and some floral. It lingered right out of the bottle and for the entire time it sat in the glass. Silky smooth tannins and beautiful long 90 second finish. This was epic.

Visit to Aldo Conterno (Monforte d'Alba, Piemonte, Italy): (Sampled from bottle a year before it will be released) Beautiful garnet. The nose is gorgeous and striking, with layer after layer of red & dark fruit, rose, balsam, and the early suggestion of secondary notes. The palate is a delicious balance of fruit and earth, with pitch-perfect acidity and a medium body leading to a long, lingering finish. The 2008 Riserva Granbussia will be a fantastic wine. At the time of tasting, this had been resting in the bottle for approximately 2.5 years and will see one more year of rest before release. (94-96)

Tasting at Poderi Aldo Conterno (Monforte d'Alba, Piedmont, Italy): A bonus wine! Ruby in color, darker and more intense than the 2011 Baroli served side-by-side. The nose is large in every sense - deep, broad and layered, though un-delineated today. Wow, in the mouth this is powerful with decadent, concentrated fruit and a big spice kick. For all the fruit power it retains freshness and lift from generous acidity. Tannins feel suave below the smooth red fruit. I couldn't put this down -- just delicious and giving initially on a pop n' pour. Stunning stuff. 96-98
