Classic right bank Bordeaux. Opened for about an hour before starting to drink. Steadily improved with air over the next hour. Surprisingly young character with firm tannins. Wonderful classic Bordeaux nose. Black cherry and cassis fruit. Well balanced.

NobleRottersSydney - Bordeaux night (Glass Brasserie, Sydney): {cork, 14%} [DavidM] Mainstream Paulliac here, ripe black fruit, hint of brett, or maybe liquorice. Pretty nice. Round sort of palate, even across the tongue, Maturing soft powdery tannins, medium acidity. Dusty sort of flavours and texture. Very good. Seemed very young when we had it last in 2012; now it seems a fraction old, perhaps (ignoring bottle variation).

For me, this is not very good. Decanted several hours in advance, it only revealed itself the following evening and even then, it wasn't very impressive. At first, still closed, rather tannic, with bitter chocolate marring what little fruit there was. By the second evening, the blackcurrant had emerged and there were hints of silkiness poking out from under the shell. I'm in two minds - whether to get rid of my last bottle or whether to keep it for another few years in the hope that something better will emerge.

Similar comment to my last entry. Very nice black fruit with some pencil shavings. Medium length palate. Soft tannins. Drinking well now and over next 2-3 years.
