This wine has always been in the shadow of its almost namesake Grand Puy Lacoste, but there has been a significant quality-improvement over the last ten years. About 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot and from a somewhat underestimated vintage this wine has a beautiful deep red-purple color, an expansive nose of cedar, tobacco, cassis and some new oak which has still to integrate. On the palate this is powerful with a hefty dose of tannins, cassis and a medium long final with good acidity. I think this wine will benefit from time in the bottle and be on its best in about five years, although it is already quite enjoyable now. Pauillac wines are in general very expensive, but bought discounted at 31€ in 2020 this can be called very good QPR.

Bright, fresh, minty, red fruits with touches of tobacco leaves and herbs create the core of this medium-bodied, forward, red currant, and cherry-filled wine. Drink from 2023-2040.

Tasted blind. Fruit of mixed forest berries, iron-like minerality, pencil shavings, forest floor, decent vegetal base. The balance on the palate is amazing, but more narrow aromatically. Maybe a tad green tannins too. A GPD that drinks really well early, but likely without the stamina for a long distance runner.

Fragrant herbaceous nose with earthy, ripe blackberries and clove. The same aromatics are found on the palate which is lively, bitter and liquorice. Medium to full-bodied on the mid-palate. Finish is dry and velvety. Need more time for the tannins to resolve.
