  Took one down from the top case. Popped the cork and....dang..... Ummm... Decanting is needed! A Krug helped me pass the time but it easily took this one 30 minutes to open. But when it did? Really nice. This one actually has a lot of younger Bordeaux qualities to it. Although there was quite a bit of black cherry and blackberry, with hints of blueberries and baking spices, there was a raucous quality about it even though the wine was as smooth as a baby's behind from start to finish. Cocoa and mocha here and just massive. Hints of nitrogenous character in both the nose and in the mid palate. But this one finishes very soft, firm, stiff oak tannin with lots of black pepper. It slaps you across the face and reminds you that it is indeed a mountain fruit wine from Napa! A couple more of these left thank goodness, and will probably let the rest sit for 10 years or so.

  This is improving. I last tried this soon after release. Since then, it has softened a bit. Exhibiting classic mountain fruit characteristics, this is a lovely cab sauv. Rich with a taut approach and a satisfying level of minerality. Had this side by side with a Carter 2012 grand daddy and this wine was the clear favorite of all three of us tasting.

  PnP at wines around the world scottsdale Gemini airpark. Way too early, would have guessed 2013 due to the time this wine needs. Deep dark and tight. Should improve with more time although not worth the price of admission.
