P: LM, *poss* Med, body; Rndish entry with very NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by a bit of astringent pucker which slowly, fairly seamlessly evolves into quite a LONG, BALANCED finish with an enticing tangy/swtness to the DUSTY tannins. Should be dynamite with food, & good for another 10 yrs? 13.5% ABV; My EXC+/Exceptional-. 91 pts WS (10/31/95).

Dried cherry, old leaves and plums with caramel and a light roasted plum aspect giving an impression of slight sweetness in the entry; Good fuller body, hefty tannins which have softened a bit, alcohol at 13.5%. good long finish, in great shape. This would be great with roasted meats, filet mignon.

from the moment the bottle was opened, oxidative quality overtook the fruit. quite surprising since the cork was intact, tight fitting and not saturated. i hoped this would blow off as described by previous taster but no such luck. very dense sediment.

A couple of old Italians (Crown Wine Cellars, Hong Kong): Wow, after decanting this had the nose of not just barnyard but the pile of sh*t in the corner which had been steaming for several days. Passed it around and the view was it would blow off which it did but boy, what a mature (not wine related mature) farmyard nose. Once this had disapated the beauty of this wine started to shine through. Initially black currant, cherry and some meat with a little flat spot in the middle but this filled out as the fruit blended and the final wine was all matrue secondary notes.
Perhaps not the best 1990 Brunello but worth buying if you see it as it's still got 5 to 10 years in it and should continue to develop.
