I came across this while checking out our local Laithwaites (UK). They had this vintage, which happened to be the year my wife was born, so...
This bottle was definitely in good condition and structurally sound. While doubtless on the decline, it's still a great experience to drink - more mature than anything we've tried before. A strong core of dried cranberries, goji berries, the authentic sourness of sangiovese. A good experience!

No one knows where this bottle came from, so provenance and storage completely unknown. Some approached it with trepidation on this basis. But cork was good, nose too. Really lovely aged Sangiovese (and clearly recognisable as such). Orange peel, cloves, prune, tobacco, spice. Still fresh and energetic on the finish. Really enjoyed.

Dark fruits, pommegranade, earth, white pepper, spice, and barnyard on the nose. Menthol too (and no barnyard) by the end of night. Palate was so much fresher. Ripe cherries, blueberries, strawberries and plums. Then some underbrush and gravels. Fine acidity and balance. Great mouth feel and pretty long finish. Fine grained tannins still holding court on the back end. 91-92p.

Bordeaux Index - Great Winemakers of Italy 2013 Tasting (London): Very good expression of aged brunello. Lots of dried fruit, prunes and cedar on the nose. Complex palate with secondary and tertiary flavours. Clearly fully mature. I woul drink up ASAP. 3 = Vergy Good (just)
