  • 13.5% alcohol. It's been ten years since I had this bottling. Now, I call it "baby" Pentagon, since it's the usual Estate wine with the Pentagon block bottled separately. And it's screaming good, just like it always has been. Took a bit of time for the funk to blow off the nose, but this is just fresh and lively and intense, with secondary aromas and flavors starting to make their presence known. This is still greatly driven by red fruit, spice, floral notes, and plenty of acidity. It's hard for me to describe this wine because it just has so much memory associated with it. Brilliant. A

  • 13.5% alcohol. What an impeccable bottle of this wine. Bright red color, with a bit of bricking at the outer rim of the glass. Phenomenal nose of vibrant red cherries, black cherry, baking spice, and flowers. In the mouth, lively and sumptuously balanced, with vibrant cherry fruit striking out across the palate before the baking spice, earth, mushroom, and floral notes chime in. Bright acidity leads to a touch of tannic grip on the positively juicy finish. A

  • 13.5% alcohol. Initially a touch of funk on the nose, which blew off quickly to reveal a somewhat strange bouquet. It was slightly stewed almost, but there was a glimpse of pretty red fruit and spice behind it. In the mouth, however, it was a completely different story. This was vibrant, rich, pure, and delightful on the palate. Explosion of red and black cherry, with floral, mineral, spice, and earth notes backing it up. Bright acidity remains and a smooth, plush finish. The finish is quite delightful. Very pleasant. A-

  • 13.5% alcohol. Tight on the nose at first, but it really opened up over time. Developed a lovely ripe cherry quality, unfolding with mushroom, tea, floral, spice, and mineral notes. In the mouth, quite racy and lively. You wouldn't believe this wine is 12 years old. Lovely, long finish. A-

  • Tasting four pinot noirs, fourth place. Lovely cardboard nose, bret?, with dark fruit, more of the same on the palate, muted flavors, medium finish, showing age throughout the night.
