the perfect bottle ! the cork was a complete disaster but the wine was great !! complex nose from cherries , pepper , menthol , spices . On the palate in perfect shape with nice refreshing acidity , very long finish

Served to me in double blind fashion; I guessed the wine. Why? Because it had to be the '93 Gaja - at this point in time. You see, I had this ~ 6 yrs ago, and it left that kind of impression. So when I saw how it evolved during our three hours, there was really only one possibility. Aerated 2 hours in wide-bottom decanter, then enjoyed over the following three hours. Only in the last moments did this epic wine begin to falter. Highly complex, elegant, powerful, feminine - it's the whole package. Grazie, Gian. highly recommended Drink now and the next several years

A pristine birthyear bottle for my eldest son, brought to New York to enjoy at my dinner with him. Almost tawny in color, and a touch cloudy, but the aromatics were clean and soaring, with sweet cherry perfume and a touch of fennel. Absolutely correct at first, elegant and gracious, with red berry notes dominating. Plenty of acid and structure. Gradually started to shut down in the glass, allowing some VA to emerge. I’ll gladly take this 29-year old supernova shine-and-burnout outcome (for the wine not my son).

11 hours upon opening into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Leaf” day): Medium ruby to the eyes.
Great underlying qualitt but wooden notes quite dominated both on nose and palate.
Better in the first round and still tight. Still too young?
93-94 points.
