  • Bought recently. Decanted for one hour in a small decanter. Medium garnet colour. Dark fruit, plum, blackberry, prune, herbaceous notes, intense tobacco, milk chocolate, light espresso, spices, balsamic notes, and notable old-age sweetness, with medium-level acidity, mostly resolved tannin, and good to very good length. Medium-bodied, with good concentration. A little angular. Leathery and balsamic on day two. Drink now, and over the next five or six years.

  • In a perfect spot. Lively perfume of pencil shavings and sweet cassis, the nose is intensely fragant and elegant. On the palate the fruit remains prominent bolstered by well integrated acidity and chewy tannin. The finish is persistent and complex and the fruit finishes soft and warm. The overall impression is nobility and balance. A very, very good bottle.

  • mid-neck level, long slightly crumbly cork, 2 hr decant, only coarse sediment, brown rim, lovely fine floral complex nose, typically Margaux, palate of medium weight but excellent depth and concentration, long, distinctly dry on the mid-palate and at the finish, nice, good food wine (12.5% in a top year - reflected in the restraint and finesse)

  • perfect mid-neck level and intact long cork, decanted only ca. 1 hr, little sediment, quite brown colour a little disconcerting, worries soon dispelled by first wif, just marvelous nose, super fine but with great concentration and intensity, classic fragrant floral Margaux, palate also lovely, leathery fruit, great depth, length and persistence, a really top bottle, went just too fast despite attempts to linger and appreciate
