Took an hour to open up.dark red, earth, forest floor, dark berries, fruity, good soft tannins, lingers on palate for a while . Good finish. I would have liked it a few years ago. These wines should be drunk in 10 years.

Was a little worried about the brown-orange color as I poured this wine into the dacanter, but this old CDP still showed plenty of stuffing and style. “Smoke! Fruit!” Said my friend after her first sip. And indeed, there’s a burnt earthiness on the outer palate, as well as Indian spices and pepper, plus lots of lovely black cherry and candy apple in the middle. Impressive after all these years!

This wasn't exceptional on opening to say the least. But, about a week later (because no one else wanted to drink it), it evolved into a very solid complex plummy wine. Not overpowering, but smooth and mixed well with food. Finish good. I give it much higher marks than CT.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL): Very ripe black fruit throughout with big spice, particularly on the attractive nose, then less exciting on the more roasted palate. Drink up.

Soft, round, feminine style. Violets and mild earth.
