  • Drinking nicely, and from my standpoint, fully mature at this time. Red fruit & tar on the nose, sweet & sour cherry on the palate with good acidity. Lighter-bodied - this is the kind of wine where I could just sit down with some Italian cheese - I'm currently munching on some Moliterno Pecorino with black truffle, and it's a match made in heaven - and happily finish the whole bottle ;^)

  • Very nice drinking at this point. I'm not convinced there's any further upside, but I also don't think one needs to drink this in the near-term, as it feels like it's squarely on the plateau of full maturity with no decline impending. Sweet & sour cherry fruit that really spreads out on the palate, which is where this wine really shines. Red and black fruit with some tar on the nose. I will enjoy tossing back a couple glasses of this tonight!

  • In an unusual twist of fate, the third time I've had this specific vintage of this tradionally made Barbaresco. A medium dark garnet in the glass, extending out to orange-tinted edges. My first thought was "root beer". Slightly oxidized red currant on the nose, with orange peel and rose petal. On the palate, medium bodied, with very good intensity and concentration. Tar noticeably joined the other notes noted on the nose. Very good acidity still, with a touch of tannins on the finish. This has reached its proverbial late middle age in very fine shape. I shall plan our final bottle around a special Italian meal.

  • Earthy cherry fruit and tar on the nose. Sweet and sour cherry on the palate, with good acidity.

Very nice, and while I don’t know if we can expect any further improvement at this point, off this bottle I would say it feels like this wine should still be in fine shape for its 30th birthday.

  • Super expressive bouquet of mint and menthol, with a deeper undertone of coffee, leather and rubber. On the lighter, lifted end of the spectrum, but with plenty of cidery sweetness to hold the midpalate up to the acid and structure. Big, long, bright, sour, intense, eucalyptus finish. Terrific and intense with all the high acid verve we could want in a Nebbiolo.
