  • Bright brass colour. The fragrant nose suggests lime and apricot aromas along with a slight petrol undertone and notes redolent of wet stones. The sweetness in offset by its bright acidity and fresh citrus flavours that linger on its finish. Juicy and easy-drinking style.

  • led by a seasonably perfect Willi Schaefer 2018 Graacher Trocken, and a single quesadilla filled with ranchera, cheddar, and Broadbent's smoky bacon. I simply must know if this muggy July weather is the key in the lock of passed-over WS inventory.

7.5% abv. AP 02. Interesting; odd in a way. It leads with iodine and eucalyptus, in a rinsed, medicinal bandage medium. "All that will probably come together," I think. It's fun to observe the process. Confidence is instrumental here. Pretty little perfumed and puffed bundles of maraschino enter the picture. Then come sweet peat extracts. Then, almonds. The medium of flavor exchange here is clean and precise. All of that alkaloid business begins to converge on some idealized sensation of petrol. Once that is established, perception is free to gather the familiar botanical rewards, of limeade, of russet apple skin, of cassis dripping and falling over fescue and clover. The key to understanding what is happening in this cup is the sensation of acid. It lurks, and builds coalitions in the margins of the action, until the light of scrutiny points to it—then rebellion; then disruption! Bursting with oils of Brazil nut, and words of Mayakovsky. How can something so spare and radiant suggest anything so related to fatty nuts, cake frosting, and goose liver? What about sweetness? It's actually kinda dry. Lean, with a grapey drench of scented green fruit. The acid is unwilling to seize the crown, rather seething under the floor and licking the margins.

I suppose this hasn't really changed much since February. At this rate, it makes little sense to open the next bottle before 2026. I won't be surprised if it blooms into something monumental. Now it's 91+.

TIME: 24 hours later, resealed and from the fridge, its more of an item now. Deep end of the pool. Aquamarine soul. NEXT BOTTLE: decant, aerate, wait.

  • Sweet, delicious, refreshing - with notes of apple, white fruit. Low in alcohol. Had it alongside other syrah and mourvedre dominant savory wines and made it a great white to add some sweetness to the acidity and tannins of the big reds. More standalone notes made earlier.

  • A sweet, fresh and delightful Riesling. Aromas of apple and white fruits. Tastes quite sweet with slight acidity, almost like green apples and with slight minerality and the feel is of dense texture. Delicious finish - fruit from the start to the end.

  • 7.5% abv. AP 02 17 (alternatively listed as "#2"). EYE: gathering its brass-gold spirit with a whisper of blue. NOSE: shy without apology. Arid stone and steel lateral forms drenched with orchard hedonism. Green apples. Figs. Lambskin. Strawberries wilted in the sun. MOUTH: foofy sweet cushion levitates to draw in flavors of lavender, cucumber, red delicious apple, melon seed, and lime sherbet. Active. Gestural. Just beginning its career—I can even imagine it gaining rank with another 5-10 years on its side. 91+
