Thirsty late night drink at Maison Dakota. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of raspberry coulis, black cherries, dark red cherries, perfumed sweet spices, crayons. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour almost pronounced intensity, with flavours of extremely spicy white pepper, toasty oak, raspberry coulis, fruity black cherries, dark red cherries. Long finish. Good quality. Fruity showy spicy US Pinot. Can last but I am unsure where it is going. Is a good wine, but I may have been drinking too much Burgundy recently to defer to this.

Very tough still, even after 24 hours. Not sure it will come around. I love Calera, but the 2014s are uncharacteristically charmless after 6 years, except for the DeVillars, which was more consistent with other vintages.

A beautiful earthy pinot. Drinking well with several years ahead of it
