Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Tasting #2 (The Tasty Center) (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): Ripe orchard fruit with subtle spice and floral support. Good balance already with good weight as well, just nothing like the complexity of everything else in the flight. Of course, this might have gotten lost as a replacement bottle in a flight of great older Chassagne 1er Crus, 1999-2007.

Orchard fruit, white florals, and I do get the mint. With air and warming up to temp, it gains a spicy note. Rich and a touch weighty on the palate, with buttery popcorn notes. Not bad..

ide by side Criots Fontain Gagnard 14 blind. A crazy wine this Ramont. VERY oily in the glass, no apparent fruit, quite dark in colour. I had this down for fairly more aged, no way 15 also as I have 15 in mind as being very fruit forward and giving. Very reduced here. But an interesting wine. Heavy, oily, salty, caramel, nuts. Paired superbly with the crab dish and what a contrast to the Fontain Gagnard. How will this age? I am not taking a guess here.
Full, complex and fresh nose of mint, ripe peach, ginger and aniseed. It is rich and voluminous yet has a high degree of elegance, and is light on its feet. It is showing beautifully now and length of flavour is excellent.

Chassagne - Center (Chicago, IL): Forward, smoke and mineral filled wine with plenty of lush fruit and fresh acidity. Already drinking in peak form.
