Three decades of Screaming Eagle: This, along with the 2001, was the wine of the night for me. Plums, licorice, violet, good sweetness, great structure and enough acidity will carry this wine many many years into the future.

Great California Cab. In the same category as bond, Harlan, hundred acre. Not the best value, but certainly good cal cab. Vanilla. Fruit. Sugar. Soft on the open.

Served blind in an 04 Flight with 3 other wines, a few of us thought for sure this was a Grenache a la SQN with some age. I thought 04 SQN Ode to E...WRONG!
Plush texture with silky smooth tannins. Very feminine in its structure. Exotic yet elegant - sweet, but not as over extracted in my opinion as others felt.
My suggestion is to not put Screaming Eagle in flights blind, more times than not u will be disappointed or let down. It is not that it is not a great wine. The wine is often thought to be big and over ripe and put up against others in this same style. Screaming Eagle is best enjoyed upon contemplation. It is to be sipped and studied thoughtfully. With that said, it’s not worth the coin!

Took this with us to Mendocino to celebrate our 15th anniversary, and it made for a VERY memorable weekend. I just can't get over how amazingly plush and purely textured this wine is......all feminine, yet opulently fruited....the structure was perfect with silky tannin.....liqueured berry fruit, exotic dusty cherry/fruitcake spice, field of flowers.....as well as subtleties of smoke, cedar, and licorice.....all in an amazing balance. Such a joy to sip on this, in the setting we had......well worth it imo.

(Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon) Deep red violet color; ripe cherry and vanilla nose; ripe cassis, chocolate, red cherry, sappy cranberry, coconut and eucalyptus palate; medium-plus finish 92+ pts. (not at all as pure, complex and concentrated as SE I've had in prior vintages)

It was good and tasted like a $100 wine. Nothing spectacular.
