Dinner at Sun Wah (Chicago, IL): You'd think that a ripe vintage would really give this chronically underripe region a boost, but it does so only on the nose. Nice red fruit, and a hint of stemmy green there. The palate is still fairly thin, and while there's a bit more ripeness, you can't help but feel this is emaciated pinot. Anonymous bistro wine at best.

Decanted with burgers. Mid to mid- body, mid acid. Pretty, if not terribly complex. 13%
