Pesquera Crianza 1986 from the magnum - still a strong wine that hardly shows its 40 years old. Dark fruit, cocoa powder, sweet spicy notes, nice extract, tertiäre Aromen, Pfeifentabak, good and integrated acidity, still fine sandy tannins, medium length.

Fabulous colour, tawny fading to very distinctly brick edge. Clear and relatively pale. Nose is wonderfully rounded, quite tertiary with some red fruits, hints of spice but so warm and inviting. On the palate it is quite gentle on opening but promises more with some time in the decanter. Incredibly, there's still some tannin present. Initially red fruits and a hint of oak. With time in the decanter it puts on weight and develops a complex melange of tertiary flavours and spice. Nicely integrated and not overly heavy.

Very nice - nose is sweet, spicy, berries, cherry + black raspberry, creamy and a bit exotic, marzipan, mint? Deep and plummy on the palate with good spice, herbal. Everything is kept well in place by acid/structure. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5-5.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 - 16-16.5/20.

High shoulder fill with saturated leaky cork. Decided not to decant. Dark cherry red with some edge browning. What a wonderful bottle! Soaring aromas of cherry, tobacco, cassis, spice earth and light toast/vanilla. Fresh, medium plus weighted fruit with a velvety texture, but still cut with soft tannins and nice dose of acidity. Lengthy, complex and while not really full of finesse, it has definitely lost all of the rustic edges it possessed in its youth. On night two it was still expressive, but not as overtly complex. Served with grilled NY strips and was amazing. Sadly, it was my last bottle, but thrilled to catch it a its peak. No hurry if you have these in your cellar.

In magnificent condition. Full colour, great nose and real depth and length. No rush at all based on this bottle.
