Dinner at Iki Ramen vol.II (Iki Ramen, Los Angeles CA): This was open and giving right out of the gate as it filled the glass with deep tones of wax, lanolin, gun flint, warm dough, meyer lemons, red apples, crushed rocks, vanilla beans, and yellow flowers. The fruit certainly has some primary qualities to it, but it shows off excellent balance and a round quality to the tones. The Medium bodied feel is textured and balanced with crisp, medium+ acidity that shows off a lot of persistence. The feel is pure class and really makes the wine into a textural experience. This is right at the beginning of its window, but there is plenty of ways to go. I'm not sure this has the stuffing to be a legendary or extremely long-term Raveneau, but it sure is pretty darned good right now!

This was quite ripe for Chablis, some tropical fruits such as mango and pineapple, wax, with a mature feeling. Nonetheless it feels reasonably balanced, has some lovely stone fruit, but does not wow me like other bottles have.

Maybe the weakest Ravenau if the trip; quite rich, somewhat heayy, sunny style, exotic fruit, seems mature. But this can surprise, might seem fresher in ten years. #WineNot#Chablis

France Trip: Paris, Champagne, Burgundy; 9/3/2023-9/17/2023 (Paris, Champagne, Burgundy): Light gold color. Split bottle between the four of us at Au Fils du Zinc in Chablis. Lemon and white flowers on the nose, with tarragon, sea spray, beeswax, clean and fresh. The palate shows lemmon preserves, lemon oil, white nectarine, wet stone, and a long finish. Quite exquisite.
