Youthful considering it's age. Beautiful ruby color with a hint of brownish hue. Exciting caramel bouquet. Very refreshing companion with beef steak. Balanced structure with tannic finish that hits the spot.

Opened for 5 hours prior to drinking without decanting. The wine was garnet in the core with some bricking at the rim. The initial nose was exuberant, with intense aromas of red fruits, grilled meat and leather. As the wine slow-O'ed, the red fruits remained but more spice notes emerged. At the 5 hour mark the palate was vibrant with the fruit and acidity balanced. The finish was a little drying, but persistant. Interestingly, as the night progressed, the wine began to lose some of the fruit and the drying sensation was even more pronounced. I could not tell if the wine was falling apart or was shutting down. A very interesting wine that I would like to try again. Unfortunately, this was my only bottle.

This wine has matured splendidly over the last 20 years and was a pleasure to drink. First appearances defied its age, there being some brownness but not too much. The nose had a beautiful aroma of caramel and orange peel, with more rich fruit and candy on the taste. Also a good length finish. Opened about 1 hour before drinking, the wine held on throughout the whole evening, the last mouthful being just as good as the first, some four hours later.

Montmorency cherry, old orange, some faded incense and earthy resin character. A touch caramelly and tired. Nice but too far gone to be exciting.
